With Friday’s 5–4 victory over the Greenville Drive, and an Asheville Tourists loss to the Rome Braves, the Lexington Legends (Class-A, 76–57–1) have won the second-half title in the South Atlantic League’s Southern division, securing a playoff berth in the SAL playoffs.
Offensively, the Legends led the league in stolen bases (164) while having the second-highest totals in runs (667), home runs (134), RBI (590), total bases (1,802), slugging percentage (.414) and on-base percentage (.731), while finishing top-four in hits (1,120) and batting average (.257), through August. Seuly Matias led the charge with a team-high 31 homers, while Brewer Hicklen collected 17 of his own, and batted a team-best .
