I’ll get to that question posited in the title of this week’s column in a second, but first I’d like to point out that we are a mere week and a half from the winter meetings beginning (virtually) and we still have no earthly idea if there’s going to be a designated hitter in the National League. I talked about this last week with the Royals and Jorge Soler’s situation, and it remains true. And it’s playing at least some part of holding up the free agent market, which has pretty much just been the Braves signing pitchers to a one-year deal and the Blue Jays seemingly in on every player in the world.
