They’ve often said that he “looks the part” of a big leaguer and have been impressed with his attitude and approach. When Isbel drew a walk against reigning American League Cy Young Winner Shane Bieber—after starting the count 0-2, no less—the two Kansas City broadcasters talked about it for days.
A broadcaster’s job is to get people excited for the product on the field, and so it makes sense that they’d want to discuss a young, new face in a positive light.
