Kennedy exits after 4 1/3 with apparent injury

KANSAS CITY -- Royals right-hander Ian Kennedy left Thursday's game against the White Sox after 4 1/3 innings with an apparent injury.

After getting Jose Abreu on a flyout to center to open the fifth inning, Kennedy winced after delivering a pitch to Avisail Garcia. Trainer Nick Kenney, pitching coach Dave Eiland and manager Ned Yost visited the mound and the decision was made to take Kennedy out.
