Outfielder Lorenzo Cain and right-hander Dillon Gee are done for the season, Royals manager Ned Yost said Tuesday.
Gee stayed in Detroit after this weekend's series against the Tigers because of blood clots in his lung and shoulder, but he is presently OK, Yost said.
Cain has played in only one game this month because of a sprained left hand he suffered in late August.
Gee, 30, was 8-9 with a 4.68 ERA in 33 games (14 starts) for the Royals this season, while Cain, 30, hit .287/.339/.408 with nine home runs and 56 RBIs in 103 games.
