To make room for Dyson, the Kansas City Royals optioned outfielder Reymond Fuentes to Omaha. Almonte is taking reliever Dillon Gee‘s roster spot after Gee took family leave after the birth of his daughter on Monday.
Dyson will presumably take over as the predominant starter in right field. The left-handed hitting Dyson will share the job with the right-handed hitting Paulo Orlando, but KC Royals manager Ned Yost has previously indicated that he wouldn’t employ a straight platoon. Instead, he’d let match-ups, and the player’s recent success, dictate his lineup decisions.
