KC Royals Pick Up Options On Wade Davis, Alcides Escobar; Decline Jonny Gomes

KC Royals GM Dayton Moore continued to take care of business before the November 9 opening to free agency by picking up team options on closer Wade Davis and shortstop Alcides Escobar, but declining the option on reserve outfielder Jonny Gomes.

The Kansas City Royals will pay the soon-to-be 30-year-old Wade Davis $8 million for 2016, and $5.25 million to the soon-to-be 29-year-old Alcides Escobar. The KC Royals also hold team options for both players in 2017. Meanwhile, Moore decided against bringing back Jonny Gomes for $3 million.
