Doing almost everything well has the KC Royals off to a fast 2021 start.
The KC Royals, a team without a winning record since their 2015 World Series championship season, have won three of their first four games and, at the start of today’s off day in Cleveland, find themselves tied with Minnesota for the American League Central Division lead.
The Royals owe their stellar start primarily to good hitting, something they didn’t get enough of early last season. They’ve scored 31 runs through 2021’s initial four games; at the same point in 2020, the club had 19 runs, but 14 of those arose from an uncharacteristic offensive explosion against Detroit, an effort that represented the club’s biggest output of the entire campaign.
