Another game, another Kansas City Royals starter not being able to finish 5.0 innings. Glenn Sparkman was the latest to complete that feat, as the right-hander fell to 3-9 on the season. Sparkman, 27, went just 4.1 innings and needed 24 pitches to get through the first inning in which he loaded the bases but managed to escape unscathed.
He allowed 6 hits, 4 earned runs, 3 walks, 4 strikeouts, and 1 home run. The former Padre Franmil Reyes launched a 3-run homer in the bottom of the 3rd inning that essentially put the game out of reach despite it being so early in the game.
