How Disney’s acquisition of FSKC could be a boon for Royals’ next TV deal

Some free-agent baseball contracts will be signed this winter could be worth hundreds of millions of dollars.

But the biggest deal affecting baseball was finished on Thursday, and the dollar figure is much higher. Disney is buying 21st Century Fox for $52.4 billion.

Disney will acquire Fox’s 18 regional sports networks, which includes Fox Sports Kansas City. That’s the network that televises Royals games, as well as Sporting Kansas City contests.

Yahoo’s Daniel Roberts wrote that “Disney CEO Bob Iger is doubling down on live sports television, rather than back away from it, as some analysts have suggested or predicted Disney might.
