Royals left fielder Alex Gordon may finally see a reduction in playing time — three weeks after a two-day reset did little to spark his quiet bat.
Rookie outfielder Jorge Bonifacio started in left field Wednesday night against the Tampa Bay Rays as Gordon sat for a second straight day. The move represented the first time Gordon has been out of the lineup in consecutive days since manager Ned Yost offered him two days off in early August to work with hitting coach Dale Sveum.
“(Bonifacio) is swinging the bat good right now,” Yost said in a pregame session with reporters.
