Bo Jackson is 54 years old today. To celebrate our appreciation for Bo, we’re re-living a play dubbed as ‘The Throw’, which happened more than 28 years ago.
To set the scene: The Royals and Mariners were tied at 3–3 in the bottom of the 10th inning on June 5, 1989. With one out and Harold Reynolds on first base, Scott Bradley laced a double that bounced off the wall in left field. Reynolds — who was running with the pitch — appeared likely to score the game-winning run.
But Bo fielded the ball cleanly off the wall and fired a rocket — from the warning track — that sailed over the cutoff man to catcher Bob Boone.
