SURPRISE, Ariz. -- Baseball observers will all agree that Spring Training numbers are often meaningless.
Yet, the woeful spring numbers from Alex Gordon have caught the attention of manager Ned Yost and the Royals' coaching staff.
Entering Wednesday night's game vs. the Indians, Gordon was hitting .087 (4-for-46) with zero home runs and three RBIs. And Gordon was mired in an 0-for-33 skid with 15 strikeouts.
So Yost said Wednesday he likely will send Gordon to play in some Minor League games -- a common practice among MLB teams during Spring Training -- starting Thursday in hopes of helping Gordon get his timing back.
