The thing is when you’re in the playoff hunt late in the year, there are a bunch of scary (and exciting!) series where your playoff hopes hang more deeply in the balance. This series between the Kansas City Royals and Minnesota Twins is one of them.

But the condensed version is this: the Royals, who are in sole possession of the third Wild Card spot at 65-53, are sending their three best starting pitchers to the mound against the Twins, who at 65-52 are half a game up on the Royals in the second Wild Card spot.
