Former Royals GM John Schuerholz Elected to Hall of Fame

Former Royals GM John Schuerholz was elected to the National Baseball Hall of Fame on Sunday, a unanimous choice by Today’s Game Era Committee.

Schuerholz was a member of the original Royals front office beginning in 1968 and served at several levels in the baseball operations department before ascending to GM.

  • Farm Director (1976)
  • Scouting Director (1977–80)
  • Assistant General Manager (1980–81)
  • General Manager (1981–90)

Under Schuerholz’s tenure as Royals GM, Kansas City won the American League Western division in 1984–85 and the World Series in ’85.
