The Royals will have an opportunity to check in on an old franchise staple when former closer Greg Holland conducts a showcase workout Monday at Grand Canyon University in Phoenix.
The showcase — which represents Holland’s first public appearance on a pitching mound since undergoing Tommy John surgery in October 2015 — is expected to draw a large gathering of scouts and executives as the sport convenes in Arizona for the annual general managers meetings at the Omni Scottsdale Resort and Spa.
The New York Yankees, San Francisco Giants and Boston Red Sox are among the teams reportedly set to watch Holland throw as the former All-Star reliever begins his second straight offseason as a free agent.
