Flexor strain puts Davis on 15-day DL

ARLINGTON -- The Royals, ravaged by injuries this season, placed All-Star closer Wade Davis on the 15-day disabled list on Sunday with a flexor strain.

Davis' DL stint is retroactive to Thursday, making him eligible for reinstatement on Aug. 12. The club recalled left-handed pitcher Matt Strahm from Double-A Northwest Arkansas to take Davis' place on the roster.

Davis was spotted on a plane from Dallas back to Kansas City by a fan who tweeted out a selfie with Davis prior to Saturday's Royals-Rangers game.

The Royals later confirmed that Davis was headed back to Kansas City for an MRI on his right arm.
