First All-Star voting update shows Salvador Perez, Bobby Witt Jr. each in second place

The first update on MLB All-Star voting was released today, revealing that Bobby Witt Jr. and Salvador Perez are each trailing in their bid to get voted in as a starter for the Midsummer Classic.

At the catcher position, Salvador Perez has 588,952 votes, trailing Baltimore’s Adley Rutschman’s 792,857 votes. New York’s Jose Trevino, Toronto’s Danny Jansen, and Texas’ Jonah Heim round out the top five catchers. Salvy was previously elected by fans in 2015, 2016, and 2021.

Bobby Witt Jr. has received 541,261 votes at the shortstop position so far, but trails Baltimore’s Gunnar Henderson, who has 740,436 votes.
