If you’ve been living under a rock, the Kansas City Royals are being sold. Longtime owner David Glass is selling the team to Cleveland Indians minority owner John Sherman. Sherman is a longtime Kansas City businessman with deep ties to the city and many local foundations and organizations.
It’s not everyday that a baseball team gets sold. As an infrequent event, it’s a time for baseball fans—not just Royals fans—to think about the possibilities for the team and how Major League Baseball will operate. After all, there are only 30 owners. One switching out is a big deal.
