Boy, the Detroit Tigers thought this was going to be their year to jump up in the standings and get back into contention. And it’s hard to argue with that thought process. They went 77-85 last year which was a huge improvement over previous years to start, but they did it after they started a pathetic 9-24. Their offense took a step forward and their pitching looked like it might be about to emerge with Tarik Skubal, Casey Mize and Matt Manning with some others like Tyler Alexander as players who appeared to be parts of the solution. Manning is hurt.
