Despite relief outing on Wednesday, Royals’ Dillon Gee will make start on Saturday against Twins

MINNEAPOLIS

Three days after throwing two innings of relief in a victory over the Chicago White Sox, Royals pitcher Dillon Gee will make his scheduled start Saturday against the Twins here at Target Field. He will start opposite Minnesota right-hander Tyler Duffey.

The decision came two days after Gee was forced into action on Wednesday in a game that stretched on for 14 innings. He entered the game in the top of the 13th, throwing 32 pitches over two scoreless innings. The workload put his next start in jeopardy, but Royals manager Ned Yost said Gee responded favorably to the short outing and felt comfortable returning to the mound on Saturday.
