Danny Duffy placed on DL with shoulder injury

Royals left-hander Danny Duffy, who received an anti-inflammatory injection after Saturday night's start against the Cardinals, was placed on the 10-day disabled list on Monday with a left shoulder impingement. Kansas City recalled right-hander Glenn Sparkman from Triple-A Omaha to take Duffy's place.

Manager Ned Yost said Duffy has been dealing with stiffness in his past four starts, in which he allowed 19 runs in 22 2/3 innings.
