Hours after the Royals designated Christian Colon for assignment on Wednesday, I watched part of the 2014 Wild Card Game again.
What an epic battle, and what a night for so many Royals, including Colon.
Photos later showed that as Colon was headed home as the winning run in the 12th inning, he seemed to be celebrating before he had even touched third base. Remember that? Colon was on second base when Salvador Perez’s hit got past Oakland’s Josh Donaldson and Colon knew he would score the deciding run in one of the greatest games in playoff history.
