Chris Young, Mike Moustakas lead Royals to 4-2 victory over Orioles

Chris Young’s response to one of the worst stretches of his career was one of his best-ever starts.

The losing pitcher in his first three starts, Young was masterful in the Royals’ 4-2 victory over the Orioles on Friday night before 29,546 at Kauffman Stadium.

Young struck out 10 batters in six innings, his first double-digit strikeout total since April 2008.

In a game between the teams with the best records in the American League, Young collected the victory after starting 0-3 for the first time in his career. The 12-year veteran who split his time between starting and the bullpen last year had been the laggard in the Royals’ rotation in the season’s first three weeks.
