Chris Young has muscle strain in forearm, Royals to make roster decision soon

The Royals are expected to make a roster decision Thursday on starting pitcher Chris Young after an MRI revealed a muscle strain in the starting pitcher’s right forearm.

Young, who allowed five homers in a loss to the New York Yankees on Monday, returned to Kansas City on Wednesday and underwent an evaluation by Royals team doctor Vincent Key.

The test, Royals manager Ned Yost said, showed that Young had a “strain” on the top side of his forearm. The injury is not considered serious, Yost said, but it could keep Young sidelined for close to a week, which could necessitate a trip to the 15-day disabled list.
