OAKLAND -- It was a lights-out night for the Royals on Thursday at the Oakland Coliseum -- a fly ball lost in the lights by center fielder Paulo Orlando resulted in a tiebreaking sixth-inning double for Matt Chapman and the A's went on to a 4-1 win.
It was the fifth consecutive loss for the Royals, who got just three hits, including a homer from Alcides Escobar, off the A's Paul Blackburn, who fired six solid innings in his 2018 debut.
Homers from Escobar and the A's Matt Olson, his 13th, had the game deadlocked at 1 through five innings.
