OAKLAND, Calif.
The Royals’ 3-2 loss to the A’s took some steam out of a winning road trip, especially with how Sunday’s game unfolded.
The Royals took a 2-1 lead into the seventh. The A’s got single runs in the seventh and eighth and turned the tables on a Royals team known for its comebacks.
Billy Burns opened the eighth with a triple down the right field line. With the infield drawn in, Royals reliever Joakim Soria coaxed a ground out to third from Coco Crisp.
With left-handed hitter Josh Reddick stepping, the Royals called a mound meeting, ostensibly to discuss pitching to or intentionally walking Reddick.
