A pair of Royals prospects led Surprise to their first win on Wednesday, 11–9 at Salt River Fields.
Right hander Arnaldo Hernandez retired all five batters he faced in relief, including two strikeouts. Hernandez, 22, went 12–5 with a 3.96 ERA (61 ER in 138.2 IP) in 27 appearances (24 starts) across three levels this season.
Outfielder Nick Heath had three hits as Surprise’s leadoff hitter in his Arizona Fall League debut, and led the team with three runs scored. He also stole three bases (2nd base twice, 3rd base once), after leading all Royals minor leaguers with 39 steals this season.
