After Raul Mondesi commits error in debut, Royals send video to league office for review

In the first regular-season game of his career, Royals rookie Raul A. Mondesi committed an error in the first inning of a 13-0 loss to the Los Angeles Angels on Tuesday night. One day later, the Royals sent the play to the league office for a scoring review, hoping to get the error expunged from his record.

The error in question came on a hard chopper off the bat of Angels shortstop Andrelton Simmons. Mondesi couldn’t corral the baseball, and the official scorer at Kauffman Stadium charged an error on the play.

Major League teams are allowed to send close scoring decisions to the league office for a video review.
