The Royals have placed shorstop Adalberto Mondesi on the 10-day injured list with a “left shoulder subluxation” and have recalled infielder Humberto Arteaga to take his spot on the roster. Mondesi exited Tuesday night’s game against the White Sox in the fifth inning after diving for a foul ball down the left field line.
“Nothing he could do,” manager Ned Yost said. “Just going for the ball and got extended. Hurt his shoulder.”
Mondesi was hitting .266/.294/.433 with seven home runs in 82 games and a league-high 31 steals. He missed two weeks in late June with a groin injury.
