As the years roll by it’s easy to forget about some of the important historical landmarks in team history. One area that’s always fascinated me is Pitching Game Score, developed by Bill James. This score attempts to gauge a starting pitcher's performance and with complete games becoming a rarity, I wanted to look back at the Royals’ highest Game Score ever. Here is the formula devised by James:
· Start with 50 points.
· Add one point for each out recorded, so three points for every complete inning
pitched.
· Add two points for each inning completed after the fourth.
