The Kansas City Royals haven't gotten from their starting rotation that they were expecting, as they'vre recorded just 14 quality starts in 37 games so far this season.
ESPN's Jim Bowden expects them to address that need before the trade deadline, putting them as the second most likely team to make a move:
The Royals have not gotten much production from the back of their rotation, which had to contribute to them placing both Chris Young and Kris Medlen on the disabled list Thursday. The Royals do have both Dillon Gee and Danny Duffy to turn to as replacements, and GM Dayton Moore told me he hopes Mike Minor can return at the end of the month and be an answer. But it still looks like they could use another starter if they’re going to catch the White Sox.
Bowden lists Miami's Jose Fernandez, Oakland's Sonny Gray and Atlanta's Julio Teheran as the three pitchers most likely to be dealt by the deadline. Look for the Royals to pursue all three if they are indeed available.
