Wood, who can serve as a starter and reliever, has struggled this year. He has a 1-3 record (mostly coming out of the bullpen) with a 6.91 ERA and a 1.82 WHIP. Strahm is out for the year as he recovers from a knee injury. Before going down this year, Strahm had posted a 2-5 record with a 5.45 ERA and a 1.5 WHIP.
Ruiz is an 18-year old infielder that the Padres are high on. He's the likely focal point of the deal for San Diego. In rookie ball, Ruiz has hit a blistering .419, with three homers, 23 RBIs and nine stolen bases in 21 games.
