South Korea native SungWoo Lee became a local celebrity in Kansas City earlier this season when the Royals superfan travelled all the way to KC to watch his favorite baseball team in action.
Per KCTV 5 News in Kansas City, Lee initially wasn't going to be able to make it back to the States for the World Series. However, ESPN and a bevy of Royals fans intervened:
He initially wasn't going to be able to make it back to the states for the World Series since he had just started a new job and didn't yet have vacation time. That is until ESPN's 30 for 30 crew traveled to Seoul, South Korea and met with Lee's boss.
A massive Twitter campaign using hashtag #bringbacksungwoo attracted widespread attention and support also helped.
That campaign worked to perfection as Lee has been granted a few days off to travel back and join the rest of the Royals' fan base for KC's first World Series in nearly three decades.
In fact, he arrives in Kansas City Tuesday morning - giving the Royals a huge boost of luck for Tuesday night's Game 1 against the San Francisco Giants.
