The Kansas City Royals remain active on the open trade market with just hours before Thursday's non-waiver trade deadline, scanning the rosters of potential sellers for pitching help.
According to Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports, the Royals are one of a handful of teams currently angling to land San Diego Padres starter Ian Kennedy:
Sources: Teams on #Padres' Kennedy include #Royals, #Pirates, #Marlins - and others. Not certain to be moved.

While they may have a chance at the San Diego right-hander, the Royals' reported interest in New York Mets veteran Bartolo Colon has been rebuffed, per Andy McCullough of the Kansas City Star:
KC has inquired on Bartolo Colon, as @MartinoNYDN wrote. The sense is the Mets do not intend to trade Colon. As always, a fluid situation.

In addition, the Royals remain open to acquiring John Lackey from the Boston Red Sox, yet aren't willing to dip into their cache of impressive young power pitchers:
The Red Sox are said to be seeking a power arm in exchange for John Lackey, and the Royals prize theirs (Zimmer, Manaea, Almonte, etc).

With just hours to go until Thursday's 4PM EST cutoff, things could change in a heartbeat. Stay tuned.
