Ever since they traded for Alex Smith in 2013, the Kansas City Chiefs haven’t buckled in their commitment to him as their quarterback. The Chiefs quickly installed him as their starter and haven’t budged from that stance in three years.
But, really, what choice did they have? None of the Chiefs' other quarterbacks in that time, a group that includes Chase Daniel, Tyler Bray, Aaron Murray, Kevin Hogan and Ricky Stanzi, had ever started an NFL game when he joined the Chiefs. None was drafted above the fifth round, and Daniel and Bray weren’t drafted at all.
