After signing a four-year contract extension worth $68 million right before the start of the 2014 season, its hard to imagine the Kansas City Chiefs replacing Smith in the foreseeable future. Smith, however, has failed to live up to ‘franchise quarterback’ expectations and the Chiefs are 2-5 with little hope of making the playoffs.
While Kansas City will probably give Smith one more season after this because of the extension they gave him, it is not inconceivable for Kansas City to think about drafting a quarterback with their potentially extremely high first round pick in next year’s draft.
