When Jamaal Charles came out of the University of Texas and declared himself eligible for the 2008 NFL Draft, many scouts saw him as a one trick pony and that his speed alone would not be enough for him to become an every down back in the NFL. As a track and football superstar in both high school and college, speed and quickness were never an issue for Charles. People questioned, however, if he was big enough and tough enough for an every down role in the NFL. Despite ranking 4th overall in total rushing yards in Texas history, behind some pretty prominent Heisman trophy names in Ricky Williams, Cedric Benson and Earl Campbell, more questions than answers surrounded Charles as he was taken in the 3rd round of the 2008 NFL draft by the Kansas City Chiefs.
