KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The Kansas City Chiefs are on the verge of doing something they’ve done just four times since the NFL-AFL merger of 1970. They’re poised to finish in the NFL’s top 10 in scoring offense and scoring defense.
Those other four teams, from 1971, 1990, 1997 and 2013 all made the playoffs. None won a playoff game.
So, finishing in the top 10 in both points and points allowed will guarantee the Chiefs nothing.
