Tony Romo won't play for Chiefs but he could play against them

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- After coach Andy Reid, general manager John Dorsey and chairman Clark Hunt recently committed publicly to Alex Smith as the 2017 starting quarterback, the Kansas City Chiefs won’t be players in the Tony Romo sweepstakes.

They could help determine how successful his season is nonetheless. He could also determine the success of theirs.

The Chiefs would likely play against Romo in 2017 if he joins either of the two teams that make the most sense, not only for him but the respective clubs as well. The Chiefs have their annual two-game series against the Denver Broncos; they also play the Texans in Houston for the third consecutive season and fourth time in the past three, counting the playoff game in January 2016.
