The state of the Chiefs defense after Eric Berry’s release

The “will they or won’t they” with Eric Berry is over.

Wednesday’s announcement that the Chiefs are cutting Berry with a post-June 1 designation means the team will be without its three highest-paid defenders heading into the 2019 season — Berry, Justin Houston, and Dee Ford.

The Chiefs have reportedly added Tyrann Mathieu and Damien Wilson, but there are still holes that Brett Veach and company need to fill in the upcoming hours, days, weeks and months.
