The Chiefs achieved their main goal in the season finale against the Broncos

The Denver Broncos handed the Kansas City Chiefs a 38-0 blowout in Sunday’s regular-season finale. The Chiefs — having already clinched the AFC’s No. 1 postseason seed — sat multiple key contributors. These included quarterback Patrick Mahomes, tight end Travis Kelce, defensive tackle Chris Jones, defensive end George Karlaftis and cornerback Trent McDuffie.

The Broncos, however, were in a win-to-get-in situation. With a victory over Kansas City, they would advance to the playoffs for the first time since 2015. Furthermore, the Chiefs had defeated Denver in Week 10 by blocking their last-second game-winning field goal attempt.
