The dress rehearsal for the 2024 regular season was preseason Week 2 for the Kansas City Chiefs. The offense came out and looked the part, but the starting defense still featured questions yet to be answered.
Safety Justin Reid was sidelined due to a quad injury, cornerback Jaylen Watson was unavailable to rotate in because of offseason labrum surgery — and even linebacker Nick Bolton and defensive tackle Chris Jones were held out as they work back to 100%.
It is the continuation of a theme this preseason for the Chiefs’ defense: not having the entire unit available all together.
