During the Kansas City Chiefs’ 28-18 victory over the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday, two of Kansas City’s rookie defensive backs came up with big second-half plays. Jaden Hicks and Christian Roland-Wallace both snagged interceptions.
Roland-Wallace — an undrafted free agent — spent four years at Arizona before transferring to USC for his redshirt senior season, recording 37 tackles, two interceptions and nine passes defensed over 12 games.
And while he’s played in every one of Kansas City’s 2024 games, he’s mostly been an invisible contributor on special teams — something that defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo and special teams coordinator Dave Toub wanted to change.
