The Kansas City Chiefs were very fortunate to have Kareem Hunt waiting in the wings.
When Spencer Ware went down with a season-ending injury last August, the loss should have sidelined a significant aspect of Andy Reid’s offense. After all, Ware had showed strong numbers in his first full year as a featured back, and given his youth and limited overall wear from college and the pros, Ware looked like a certain star as a two-way threat at the position.
Fortunately for the Chiefs, Hunt was drafted in the third round in 2017 and proceeded to not only produce in Ware’s absence but to win the league’s rushing crown with 1,327 rushing yards on the season.
