KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Spencer Ware played little in his one season with the Seattle Seahawks, but the time wasn’t wasted. Ware got to hang with and learn from Marshawn Lynch.
The most significant lesson, one that Ware is demonstrating almost weekly for the Kansas City Chiefs, is that a running back doesn’t have to be excessively fast to deliver big plays.
Ware gave the Chiefs their longest and biggest play in Sunday’s 27-21 victory over the New Orleans Saints at Arrowhead Stadium. Ware took a screen pass 46 yards for a touchdown in the first quarter, when the Chiefs trailed 7-0.
