ST. JOSEPH, Mo. -- The Kansas City Chiefs went for continuity over change during the offseason, re-signing, among other players, linebackers Derrick Johnson and Tamba Hali and defensive lineman Jaye Howard in an effort to retain as much of their core as they reasonably could.
So the Chiefs will mostly have a familiar look Saturday when they begin training camp at Missouri Western State University. They will bring back nine of last season’s starters on offense and nine on defense for the first practice.
That doesn’t leave much room for new players who will have the chance to make an impact this season.
