Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes has been diagnosed with a “mild high-ankle sprain,” according to a follow-up report from NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
Mahomes sustained the injury during a fourth-down try midway through the fourth quarter of the team’s eventual 21-7 win over the Cleveland Browns. Mahomes exited the game and was replaced by backup Carson Wentz, who completed both of his pass attempts for 20 yards to finish out the matchup.
“It’s not broken, but it’s sore,” said head coach Andy Reid of Mahomes’ ankle after the game.
