Report: Marshawn Lynch settles $75,000 fine for avoiding media

Marshawn Lynch and the NFL reportedly have reached a settlement regarding the $75,000 fine he was assessed due to his refusal to speak with the media after the Seattle Seahawks beat the Green Bay Packers in the NFL Championship Game, per Ian Rapoport. An appeal hearing, scheduled for this week, has been canceled. Interestingly, the fine had not been previously reported nor disclosed until this week.

The Seahawks’ media-averse running back created a trademark phrase out of his unwillingness to play ball according to the NFL policies, uttering “I’m just here so I don’t get fined” on several occasions during the weeks leading up to Super Bowl XLIX.
