Perhaps no Kansas City Chiefs player has come a longer way since last season than cornerback Phillip Gaines, who arrived in 2014 as a third-round draft pick. Gaines looked lost for much of his rookie year, though injuries to other players led the Chiefs to start him in five games last year.
